Guide

How to set up your artwork for a pull up banner

Get these right and your banner can go straight to print the same day.

1. Set the right document size

Set up at 850mm x 2000mm with 10mm bleed on every side (870mm x 2020mm total).

2. Keep key content out of the base

The bottom 100mm or so sits inside the base. Keep logos, text and phone numbers above it. Keep text at least 30mm from the sides.

3. Resolution and colour

150dpi at full size is plenty for a banner viewed from a metre or more. Use CMYK colour. Very bright RGB colours, especially some blues and greens, can print duller.

4. Fonts and file format

  • Export a PDF with fonts outlined or embedded.
  • AI, EPS, TIFF or high-resolution JPG also work.
  • Don't send Word or PowerPoint files if you can avoid it.

5. Design tips that work

  • Logo near the top, where people look first.
  • One headline of no more than 7 words.
  • Strong contrast between text and background.
  • Website or phone number in the middle third, at eye level.
